IOHA 2015 - a successful conference for OHTA

IOHA 2015 in London was a busy and productive conference for OHTA. The organisation held its first AGM and presented a successful plenary session, with OHTA’s new member associations playing a part in both events.

Around 120 people including representatives of 14 member associations attended the plenary session, “Big Oaks from Little Acorns”. Presented by Roger Alesbury, Steve Perkins and Peter O’Neil, it was an opportunity to look back at the development of OHTA and its successes to date, explain the reasons for the recent constitutional and structural changes, and thank everyone who has contributed to OHTA and OHlearning over the years. Steve Perkins focused on the importance of converting the need for occupational hygiene to demand, and called on OHTA’s new member associations to take on this challenge by promoting the scheme and recruiting new training providers. Several new initiatives were also announced.

OHTA was also an exhibitor at IOHA 2015. The stand was well attended with people dropping by to find out more about OHlearning, training provision and the courses offered under the international training scheme and qualifications framework, as well as to volunteer their services. All in all a very successful conference!
